Birkenstock Kids Size Chart: What You Need to Know

Birkenstock Kids Size Chart: What You Need to Know

Getting the right fit matters—especially for growing feet. Birkenstock sandals are known for their comfort, support, and quality craftsmanship, but sizing can sometimes be confusing. Whether you're buying their first pair or replacing a much-loved old one, here's a quick guide to finding the perfect fit for your child.

How Birkenstock Kids Sizing Works

Birkenstock uses European sizing, which doesn’t always match up neatly with UK sizes. Their kids’ range starts from EU 24 and goes up to EU 34. That typically covers ages 3 to 10, depending on foot size. Each pair features the classic contoured footbed that shapes to the foot—so getting the right size means better support from the start.

If you’re stuck between two sizes, Birkenstock recommends going for the larger one. This allows room for toes to move and feet to grow, while still benefiting from the anatomical footbed.

Tip: To measure your child’s foot, have them stand on a piece of paper, trace around it, and measure the length from heel to the longest toe. Then compare it to the chart above.

Narrow vs Regular Fit

Birkenstock offers two width options: Narrow and Regular. Most kids' styles come in Narrow Fit, which works for standard to slim feet. If your child has wider feet, look out for models available in Regular Fit.

Final Notes

  • For sandals, make sure there’s about 5–10mm of space in front of the toes and behind the heel.
  • Check the straps—they should be snug, not tight.
  • Don’t size up too much thinking they’ll grow into them; too-big sandals can cause tripping and reduce support.
